Blind Leading The Blind

Matthew 15: 1-20

Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying, 2 “Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.” 3 He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ 5 But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God”— 6 then he need not honor his father or mother.’ Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. 7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:
8 ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. 9 And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ” 10 When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear and understand: 11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.” 12 Then His disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?” 13 But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. 14 Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.” 15 Then Peter answered and said to Him, “Explain this parable to us.”
16 So Jesus said, “Are you also still without understanding? 17 Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. 20 These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.”

We have all these man made thoughts and traditions leading our world that God can’t get a word in edgewise.  These man made ideas, myths, and analogies have turned us into prideful, arrogant people.  God controls our world and if we are walking, conversing, and living our lives for Him, He says He will put no disease or ill on us.  We can even drink poison and it will not harm us if our faith is in God Almighty.  He says it’s not what goes into our mouths that defiles us but what comes out.  However our world has us under the belief that certain foods, cigarettes, liquors etc. will harm us.  But all of our diseases are plagues put on us by not operating in the word of God and adhering to its protocol for living. And Jesus said to them in Mark 16: 15-18, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”  Luke 10:18-21, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.” 21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes.”   Deuteronomy 28:58-61 However, tells us, "If we do not carefully observe all the words of this law that are written in this book, that we may fear this glorious and awesome name, THE LORD YOUR GOD, then the Lord will bring upon us and our descendants extraordinary plagues-great and prolonged plagues-and serious and prolonged sicknesses.  More over He will bring back on us all the diseases of Egypt, of which they were afraid, and they shall cling to us.  Also every sickness and plague, which is not written in this Book Of The Law, until we are destroyed.”  God says we honor Him with our lips but our hearts are far away from Him.  We know if we’re submitting to God 100% and if not He states don’t think it’s strange when all these ills and mishaps come upon us.  God says, we are brothers and sisters and if we will begin to act as such and care for one another, all our hurts and pains will begin to slowly subside because we’re grounded on the word of God and not on man’s word given to him by the enemy.  When we begin to look at our world through the eyes and heart of God, all the turmoil and confusion will begin to wither away.  Verse 1 is a complete example of God’s word that says, do not compare ourselves among ourselves.  Christ goes on to say that the children are not honoring father or mother.  Our world is so twisted that parents today believe their children are to take care of them because they brought them into the world.  But most births are by accident and marriages are formed out of lust and not from the ordainment of God.  So we deceive ourselves and everyone around us when blinded from God’s truth.  Parents are to support and guide their children to the laws of God.  Building their lives and careers off it to leave an inheritance for their children.  It is hard on a child’s mind, when parents are indecisive, controlling, manipulative or even to giving for the wrong reasons. God is here to help us. His commands are there to protect us. To lead us into a peace and inheritance that surpasses all understanding.  Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the thoughts I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Don’t be blind, leading the blind.

Blessings to all as we remove the blindness from our eyes and heart to see our God,
