Proverbs 18: 1 - 15
A man who isolates himself seeks his
own desire;
He rages against all wise judgment.
He rages against all wise judgment.
2 A fool has no delight in understanding,
But in expressing his own heart.
But in expressing his own heart.
3 When the wicked comes, contempt comes also;
And with dishonor comes reproach.
And with dishonor comes reproach.
4 The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters;
The wellspring of wisdom is a flowing brook.
The wellspring of wisdom is a flowing brook.
5 It is not good to
show partiality to the wicked,
Or to overthrow the righteous in judgment.
Or to overthrow the righteous in judgment.
6 A fool’s lips enter into contention,
And his mouth calls for blows.
7 A fool’s mouth is his destruction,
And his lips are the snare of his soul.
8 The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles,
And they go down into the inmost body.
And his mouth calls for blows.
7 A fool’s mouth is his destruction,
And his lips are the snare of his soul.
8 The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles,
And they go down into the inmost body.
9 He who is slothful in his work
Is a brother to him who is a great destroyer.
Is a brother to him who is a great destroyer.
10 The name of the Lord
is a strong tower;
The righteous run to it and are safe.
11 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city,
And like a high wall in his own esteem.
The righteous run to it and are safe.
11 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city,
And like a high wall in his own esteem.
12 Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty,
And before honor is humility.
And before honor is humility.
13 He who answers a matter before he hears it,
It is folly and shame to him.
It is folly and shame to him.
14 The spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness,
But who can bear a broken spirit?
But who can bear a broken spirit?
15 The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge,
And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
We can’t continue to take man’s
theory on life and our world, believing it’s the gospel. Earth has been here since the beginning of
time, and we’ve yet to get it right.
We’ve deceived, lied, and taken bargains just to cover up Jesus’ time here
on earth and His resurrection into heaven.
(Acts 4: 10-12 / 23-26) “.
. . let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the
name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the
dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. 11 This is
the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has
become the chief cornerstone.’ 12 Nor
is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given
among men by which we must be saved.”
“And being let go, they went to
their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders
had said to them. 24 So when they heard that, they raised their
voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You are God, who made
heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them, 25 who
by the mouth of Your servant David have said:
‘Why did the nations rage,
And the people plot vain things?
26 The kings of the earth took their stand,
And the rulers were gathered together
Against the Lord and against His Christ.’”
And the people plot vain things?
26 The kings of the earth took their stand,
And the rulers were gathered together
Against the Lord and against His Christ.’”
God tells us in verse 4 that our
words are deep waters and can be a wellspring of great wisdom. But He tells us in 1 Timothy 1: 5-7 “Now
the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good
conscience, and from sincere faith, 6 from which some,
having strayed, have turned aside to idle talk, 7 desiring to
be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor the things
which they affirm.” So in Job 38: 1-3
the Lord asks “Who is this that darkens counsel By words without
knowledge? Now prepare yourself like a
man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.”
I recommend family that you read that entire
chapter. Our world is in disarray
because God is questioning us and we can’t give an answer. So we’re reaping what we are sowing from our
words and actions. God tells us in Deuteronomy 6:
4-15 “The Lord
our God, the Lord is one! 5 You
shall love the Lord your God with
all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your
heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and
shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when
you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a
sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You
shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
10 “So it shall be, when the Lord
your God brings you into the land of which He swore to your fathers, to Abraham,
Isaac, and Jacob, to give you large and beautiful cities which you did not
build, 11 houses full of all good things, which you did not
fill, hewn-out wells which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you
did not plant—when you have eaten and are full— 12 then
beware, lest you forget the Lord
who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. 13 You
shall fear the Lord your God and
serve Him, and shall take oaths in His name. 14 You shall not
go after other gods, the gods of the peoples who are all around you 15 (for
the Lord your God is a
jealous God among you), lest the anger of the Lord
your God be aroused against you and destroy you from the face of the earth.”
Our words, wisdom, and knowledge are
destroying us and God says in 1 Corinthians 3: 18-21, “Let no one deceive
himself. If anyone among you seems to be
wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness
with God. For it is written, ‘He catches
the wise in their own craftiness’; and again, ‘The Lord knows the thoughts of
the wise, that they are futile.’
Therefore let no one boast in men for all things are yours.” Seek God’s knowledge.
Blessings to all as we seek
knowledge in God’s truth,
