The Power Of Words

John 1: 1-18
 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

Psalms 34: 11- 16
Come, you children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 Who is the man who desires life,
And loves many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep your tongue from evil,
And your lips from speaking deceit.
14 Depart from evil and do good;
Seek peace and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
And His ears are open to their cry.
16 The face of the Lord is against those who do evil,
To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

Psalms 5: 9
For there is no faithfulness in their mouth;
Their inward part is destruction;
Their throat is an open tomb;
They flatter with their tongue.

Psalms 15:2-3
He who walks uprightly,
And works righteousness,
And speaks the truth in his heart;
 He who does not backbite with his tongue,
Nor does evil to his neighbor,
 Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend;

  Psalms 31: 20
You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence
From the plots of man;
You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion
From the strife of tongues.

Joshua 10:21
And all the people returned to the camp, to Joshua at Makkedah, in peace.
No one moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.

                                AND WE CAN DO THIS TOO WORLD

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God.  He was in the beginning with God.  If we could only come to terms with the fact that the words we speak either build or tear down the kingdom of God, our earth and we who live on it, if we would choose our words more carefully.  Our futures are determined by the words we speak and the action we take upon them.  God spoke His whole universe into existence.  That’s how powerful our words can be.  But God says if the salt loses its flavor, it is good for nothing, only to be trampled upon.  We are shooting words out of our mouths and hearts that are tearing one another and our world down.  God speaks in Job asking, who is this that darkens council with words without knowledge?  We have taken on our own lives to prosper in a world that has been designed to build off the word of God.  We must train ourselves in the fruits of the spirit to patiently speak edifying words to God and each other.  The spirits, God’s enemies, use our words to wreak havoc on us, just as our angels use our words to bring life to us.  A life God wants us to live more abundantly.  Our words should give light that we may see our way into God’s heavenly arms.  Jesus came unto His people, and the people knew Him not because His words were like a foreign language to them.  We diminish ourselves by not training in the word.  Our world is mad right now because of the misuse of words and the actions we take to defend them.  We reap what we sow in word and deed.  Call those things that aren’t as though they are, God commands.  That is enough to show us the power in our words.  (James 3:6)  “And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.”  But having no patience and the ability to receive God at His word, the evil realm just shoots it to us as we call it from our hearts.  God tests our minds and hearts, so if we are not speaking sincere heartfelt words of love to Him and His children He considers us fake.  God says chose whom you will serve.  He would rather us be cold or hot because lukewarm He will vomit us out of His mouth, giving satan all the opportunity to destroy us.  Bless the power of words, now choose them correctly.

Bless our words Lord as we choose them to edify You,

Vincent Young, Christian Analyst.
