1 Corinthians 9: 19-27
For though I am free from all men, I
have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more; 20 and
to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under
the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under
the law; 21 to those who are without
law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law
toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law; 22 to
the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all
things to all men, that I might by all means save some. 23 Now
this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I may be partaker of it with you.
24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all
run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. 25 And
everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all
things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an
imperishable crown. 26 Therefore I run
thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats
the air. 27 But I discipline my body and bring it into
subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become
disqualified.
We must let the word of God free us from our world’s thinking and
actions to be of service to Him and our King Jesus Christ. We have to be free in our minds, bodies, and
spirits to become holy vessels of sacrifice; in Romans 12: 1-2 God says, it is our
reasonable service. He states in Hebrews
5:14 “We are to exercise our senses to discern both good and evil.” And Ephesians 4:12 says we do this “For the
perfecting of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body
of Christ.” I thank God from the bottom
of my heart that He has taught, loved, and taken me out of our world’s
confusion. I don’t care how much
material wealth we try to cover up our shortcomings and flaws with. Our world is in turmoil because we have yet
to put our blood, sweat and tears into the word of God. In verse 19 Paul says that though he is free
from all men, he has made himself a servant to God and them. That can only be done when one has humbled them
self to Christ in the fruits of the spirit, looking through the eyes of Christ
and His word, to examine the hurt and pain we subject ourselves to, by not
administering the word into our hearts.
Paul ran the race seeking, searching, and finding our bible to be true
to obtained his crown. Then continued in
the race to pass it on. We don’t have to
fight ourselves and each other for our crowns.
God owns the world and everything in it and if we’ll take the time to
search it in faith and belief we can inherit it too. But discipline, patience, love and work to
deny ourselves worldly gain and to take on the mind of Heavenly gain is how we
will see it on earth. Strive to Love
all.
Bless us Lord as we become all things to serve You,
